It’s finally perfect race weather! I was excited for this race, but not sure what to expect. It ended up being a beautiful course that twisted throughout the neighborhoods surrounding Timrod Park in downtown Florence. There were some hills, but the most challenging part of the race was staying on course. The course had lots of twists and turns and the people at the head of the pack ended up getting lost. That’s what happens when you run too fast. 🙂
Around mile five, I realized I was going to PR, so I amped up my pace. The race ended on a down hill stretch – YES! – and I ended up with a PR of almost one minute.
Worst finish photo ever? Maybe
I grabbed some chili after the race and that warmed me up a bit while I waited for the awards ceremony. There was a Canines in Costumes contest going on at the same time, so it was fun to see the animals (and their people) all dressed up. I wish Huck had been there, although I don’t know if I’d trust him in a costume. Maybe next year 🙂
